Ludi JuettFounding Partner & Registered Care Manager.

I started in the social care sector in 1999. Initially, working in a care home for the elderly specialising in Dementia care, including younger adults with Korsakoff’s. In my 3 years there I gained a vast amount of knowledge from providing direct support to individuals and from working alongside a skilled and experienced Manager.

I completed SVQ 2 in Care in 2000.

I discovered that people and their different lives intrigued me. My Manager encouraged me to further my knowledge and develop my skills, so I left to attend full time college and completed an HNC in Social Care in 2002. Whilst undertaking the HNC I worked part-time with the local authority Care at Home services. It gave me valuable experience of supporting clients within their own homes.

Once, I finished college, my college placement offered me full time employment working with Adults with learning disabilities within a community house setting. This gave me insight into community living setting and a new client group. Under the Scottish Supporting People Programme in 2003, I was involved in supporting these clients to move into more independent living by assisting them to manage their own tenancies and supporting them with the changes it brought to their lives. I remained with this company for a further 14 years during which time I took on additional roles and responsibilities as the opportunities arose. I completed SVQ 3 In Social Care in 2005.

In 2010, the company had a restructure and I was promoted, and I transferred to work in the Peebles project. It is here that Claire and I first met and worked as Managers together. We quickly recognised that we had a working partnership that mirrored each other’s skills. We were an effective partnership in managing the project. I gained so many additional skills in this role, how to effectively manage a staff team, undertaking all training opportunities including developing skills in areas of HR, supervising people, managing a local budget and many other business management skills.

In 2016, Claire and I took the leap and started Enhance Support & Care together. All the skills, knowledge and experience I have gained from my 20 years working in different environments and with different client groups enables me to understand how diverse people and their situations are.

My passion is working with people. I still love being out getting to know and delivering direct one-to-one support with clients. I believe in ensuring a person receives the correct support that enables and empowers them to remain in control of decisions in their lives. My 20 years of knowledge and experience enables me to clearly understand and ensure how personalised support can be delivered to meet your individual’s outcomes, where and who to contact for additional professional and/or specialised input if required.

I have recently completed SVQ 4 in Social Services & Healthcare plus additional level 10 Management Units. Along with SVQ 4 Business Management as recognised qualifications required by the Care Inspectorate.

As a manager I respect and value my staff team. My team are the front line of our business, by giving them the correct support in their roles, I know they will carry my values into their work practices. Take a moment to meet them all below...

In 2006 after being in the same job for many years, I decided to have a career change. I had always been interested in supporting people with learning disabilities and decided to apply for a job as a support worker with an organisation who supported people with learning and physical disabilities in their own homes.

I was lucky enough to get a job with the organisation and I knew from my first day that I had found my vocation in life!

I worked my way up through the ranks by starting as a relief support worker, then I took a permanent contract position as support worker which then led to me becoming team leader and finally, I ended up managing the Peebles project.

It was in this post that I met Ludi who was also a team leader for the organisation but in another town. Ludi came to join the Peebles branch as manager as well and we worked alongside each other from 2010-2016.

During this period Ludi and I managed a staff team of 25 staff who supported clients with various needs in the Peebles and surrounding area.

Ludi and I soon discovered that we worked very well together and were a great partnership in every aspect of our working lives.

It was during this period that Ludi and I discussed many times about setting up our own care company as we had built up a lot of experience between us and felt we could really enhance the lives of people in our area using all the skills we had obtained throughout our years.

In early 2016 our organisation announced that they were having a restructure and we were offered the chance to either re-apply for our jobs or take redundancy.

Ludi and I decided that it was “now or never” with regards to setting up on our own so we decided to take the redundancy and follow our dream of setting up on our own!

After months of hard-work we were awarded our Care Inspectorate Registration in July 2016 and we have not looked back since!

I have recently completed SVQ 4 in Social Services & Healthcare plus additional level 10 Management Units.

When starting Enhance we were very fortunate to discover that a lot of our staff team who worked for us in our previous posts wanted to join our new company Enhance Support and Care, so we were able to move forward very quickly with a great team behind us.

Over the last 3 years we are very proud to say we have built up a fantastic group of clients and continue to grow in the Peebles and surrounding area delivering first class care and support to all our clients.

I have worked with the elderly clients and adults with a learning disability for 10 years. I have worked for Enhance S&C for 2 years. I find meeting new clients and getting to know them is rewarding and fulfilling. I gained my SVQ 2 in social Care a few years ago.

I worked in Insurance for almost 10 years before deciding it was time to change my career. It was the best decision I made. You get to meet a lot of different people, from different backgrounds and build great relationships with them. It is such a rewarding job being able to support people maintain their independence. I have just completed my SVQ 2 through Enhance S&C, who are a fantastic team to work with.

I have worked in the care sector for more than 15 years. I love being around people. I am known for my loud joyous laugh! In addition to working, I have set up and run Peeblesshire Diskobility. I hold discos on a monthly basis for older teenagers upwards who have a disability to come along and enjoy socialising with their friends and carers.

I studied Social Care at Borders College at Higher & HNC level. I have been a support worker for over 6 years and have also been a volunteer for 10 years with the local Befriender Service. I love working in the care sector because every shift is different. My favourite part is the fantastic team I work with.
