FundingOur flexible support services can be funded in several ways:

  1. Privately – contact us and arrange to pay for your service privately yourself.

  2. SBC social work – we are contracted with SBC to provide assessed critical support. Local authority Social work will carry out an assessment of your needs before they will provide social care services. Critical care and support in your home includes support with personal hygiene, mobility issues, dressing, getting in/out of bed, going to the toilet, taking medication, support with preparing and eating meals.

  3. In Scotland, under legislation, everyone is entitled to free personal care. Up until 1st April 2019, this was only people over the age of 65 with assessed personal care needs. From 1st April 2019, following ‘Frank’s Law’ a new policy came into effect in Scotland where there is now the introduction of free personal care to everyone whom requires it, regardless of age, condition, capital or income.

  4. Via SDS Funding - Self-Directed Support (SDS) – this strategy for Scotland 2010 became Social Care Self Directed Support (Scotland) Act 2013. The purpose of this law was to give people of Scotland more choice and control over their own social care support. To empower people who require support and use services to be fully involved with the planning and deciding how and who they want to access and/or provide service to meet their needs and outcomes. Therefore, ensuring a person-centered approach and enabling people to personalise their support services, so that they are better suited to their individual preferences.

If you think you need help and support to continue living at home, then you should contact your local authority social work department and ask for an assessment. A friend and/or relative can ask for this on your behalf. The local authority has a legal duty to carry out an assessment of your needs if you are elderly, disabled or have a long-term health condition.

OptionsAs everyone’s needs are unique, no two people will have the same amount, or type of support.

There are four options that each person is offered at initial assessment carried out by your social worker:

  1. To receive a Direct Payment with which the you can manage yourself and buy services from a provider or employ your own personal care assistant.
  2. To have your assessed budget allocated to a provider of your choice. The local authority hold the budget but you are in charge of and decide how its spent.
  3. To have the local authority arrange the service needed for you.
  4. A mixture of option 1, 2 and/or 3 for distinct aspects of your support.

You may receive social care funding to meet your personal care needs but still require additional support with housework, laundry, shopping and social support. In which case you can privately fund these services from us. Contact us to find out more.
